School of Economics and Management is one of the key schools of Silicon Lake Vocational and Technical Institute. Its predecessor was the Department of Business established in 1998. The school now has more than 1700 students. Over the past 20 years, the school has adhered to the education of “based in Suzhou, serving Jiangsu and radiating Yangtze River Delta”. Relying on school- enterprise cooperation, international cooperation and innovation and entrepreneurship education, the school has provided good human resources support for the economic development and economic structure transformation and upgrading of Jiangsu province.
The school adheres to the advanced educational concept, focuses on the future development of students, and aims to cultivate applied management and management talents of modern service industry to meet the needs of regional economic development. It has successively set up accounting, electronic commerce, electronic commerce (cross- border business direction), logistics management, business management, marketing, tourism management, urban rail transit operation management, the air cabin and other majors. The business administration major group based on the relevant majors of the school was approved as the key construction major group in “the 12th Five- Year Plan” of Jiangsu Province.
The school has four teaching and research sections, including e-commerce, logistics management, accounting and tourism management, with 31 faculty members. Thirty- nine percent of the full- time teachers have senior titles, and more than 90 percent have doctor or master’s degrees. The school also employs a group of economic management experts and well- known entrepreneurs as part- time teachers. In recent years, teachers of the school have presided over more than 10 national projects and more than 50 provincial and ministerial projects, and some of the research achievements have won provincial and municipal science and technology progress awards and other important awards. There are more than 100 papers and more than 20 monographs and teaching materials published in provincial and above journals, also providing management consulting services for more than 100 enterprises such as Yurun Group and Jinshiyuan Wine Industry.
The school adheres to the integration of industry and education, and explores the university – enterprise cooperative education model in line with the law of talents training and the needs of enterprises. The school has maintained close cooperative relations with many well- known enterprises in the industry, such as Yonyou Xindao, Jingdong Group, Goodbaby Group, etc., and explored and formed the characteristic experience of school- enterprise cooperation in cultivating talents. The employment rate and employment quality of students have increased year by year.
