School of Automotive and Traffic Engineering

School of Automotive and Traffic Engineering is one of the key departments of Silicon Lake Vocational and Technical Institute. It originated from the Automotive Application Technology Major which was first enrolled in the institute in 1998. In June 2017, the school  was separated from the School of Mechatronic and Information Engineering, and was officially renamed the School of Automotive and Traffic Engineering in January 2021. With an expert and scholar leadership, and young and middle-aged teachers as the backbone of the double teacher team, and domestic well-known brand car manufacturers, car 4S shops, insurance companies and many other automotive related industries to establish a deep school-enterprise cooperation, it provides a large number of outstanding graduates  for enterprises and the society. Since 1998, the school has successively set up the majors of Automobile Application, Automobile Service and Marketing and New Energy Vehicle Technology. More than 2600 students have graduated and about 500 students are enrolled. At present, there are 24 full-time teachers and 6 part-time teachers in our school. Among the full-time teachers, there are 4 professors, 9 associate professors and 8 lecturers. The teachers with deputy senior titles or above account for 54.17% of the full-time teachers. There are 9 teachers with postgraduate degrees, accounting for 37.5% of full-time teachers. Full-time teachers of our school strive to study professional knowledge and actively participate in all kinds of training and frontier science study and research. In recent years, the teachers of the professional team have published more than 50 teaching and scientific research papers on core journals, 13 papers indexed by EI and SCI, declared and obtained 17 patents, and compiled and published 12 specialized courses and basic course textbooks by themselves. They have completed 4 national projects, 2 provincial teaching reform projects, 4 provincial teaching and scientific research projects and 3 municipal projects. They have won 3 provincial teaching achievement awards and 21 prizes in various skills competitions. Our hospital has a new energy automotive training center, a conventional car training center, automobile engine disassembling training rooms, automobile chassis disassembling training rooms, vehicle electrical structure disassembling training rooms, automotive electronic control system laboratory, automotive beauty decoration training rooms, the automatic transmission disassembling laboratory, automotive electrical and electronic laboratory and other professional laboratories,altogether 12 ones, 5 motor vehicles associated labs, and the total value of training equipment is more than 18 million yuan. In addition to the campus training base, our schoo has a large number of off-campus practice base of depth cooperation, including automobile manufacture new energy vehicles (Hangzhou Changjiang Automobile Co., Ltd.), automobile sales and service (mainstream car brands), car insurance, （the People's Insurance (Property) Company of China, Kunshan Pacific Insurance Company), and used car appraisal and assessment (Kunshan Huafeng Used-car Market), car beauty and decoration (Kunshan Kangwei Automotive Co., Ltd.) and other ones . It ensures that in recent years, the employment rate of students majoring in automobile of the college reaches more than 99% and that of their counterparts reaches more than 78%. Since June 2017, the School of Automotive Engineering has established in-depth school-enterprise cooperation with Hangzhou Changjiang New Energy Vehicle Co., LTD., a leading enterprise of pure electric vehicles in China, and created a teaching course reform project of "professional practice and on-site teaching". In deep cooperation with Lenny Electric (Shanghai) Co., LTD., one of the top three companies in Europe, we jointly built the "Lenny Electric" named class and the "Lenny Electric Vehicle Wiring Harness" laboratory. We have established in-depth school-enterprise cooperation with qoros Automobile Co., LTD., and jointly built the "Silicon Lake - Qoros" order class. The classroom into the enterprise, the classroom into the workshop, the teaching into the site and the practical training into the post comprehensively promoted the in-depth reform of the course of "New energy vehicle Technology". The students learned practical and advanced technology, and they also get living subsidies from enterprises, and enterprises also get high-quality interns. In May 2020, the school cooperated with Zhongwei Automotive Decoration company to set up the off-campus practice training base of Zhongwei Automotive College in Silicon, jointly developing automobile beauty and decoration courses, putting the latest contents such as car washing and waxing, polishing and sealing glaze, coating and crystal plating, solar film, and car clothes color changing into classes, and moving the classes to the practice training base. Faced with the real business environment, market demand and practical operation equipment, students not only had a deeper understanding of the development and market demand of automobile beauty industry, but also had a clear direction of learning. Among the graduates of our school, a large number of outstanding talents in the automobile industry have emerged, including the owners of 4S shops, the general managers of 4S shops, the owners of second-hand car markets and some outstanding talents in the automobile related industries. Students of the Automotive Engineering School have established their own brand image in Suzhou, Kunshan, and even the Yangtze River Delta region, contributing to the economic construction of the region, which can not be ignored.
