The School of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering is one of the most powerful engineering type schools in Silicon Lake Vocational & Technical Institute, which has a mechatronics teaching & researching section and an automation teaching & researching section. The school has 20 faculty members including 1 doctoral supervisor, 2 professors, 8 associate professors and senior engineers, more than 60 percent full-time teachers with master’s degrees or doctor’s degrees. It has more than 1000 full-time students on campus. Adhering to the educational tenet of “foster   character through education, serve regional economy”, the school strives to cultivate applied talents with good professional quality.    

The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has 4 specialized majors, including Mechatronics Technology, Industrial Robot Technology, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, and Electrical Automation Technology, among which Mechatronics Technology and Industrial Robot Technology are the key construction majors of the institute. The school is equipped with a number of practical teaching bases, such as the Engineering Foundation Experimental Teaching Center, the Mechanical Manufacturing Technology Center Laboratory, the Robot Engineering Center Laboratory, and the Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Experimental Training Teaching Center, providing important support for the training of application-oriented talents. The School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has three scientific research institutions: Suzhou Elevator Safety Key Construction Laboratory, Modern Manufacturing Technology Research institution and Industrial Robot Drive and Control Laboratory, which in recent years have published more than 120 papers, applied for more than 30 patents, undertaken more than 30projects of various kinds, won more than 10 awards, and completed nearly 20 teaching reform projects of various kinds, which have played an important leading role in the development of disciplines and majors.  

In the course of running the school for many years, the school attaches great importance to the integration of school and enterprise, and cultivation concept of integrating theory and practice, making full use of internship practice bases on and off campus, on the basis of good theory teaching, to strengthen the practice teaching link, and take an active part in the various skills contest in the industrial, with training quality enhancing unceasingly, have successively sent more than 6000 outstanding graduates to the Yangtze River Delta and other regions relating to industry in intelligence manufacturing and automation, etc. who were well received and highly praised by the employers and the society. All the teachers of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering will continue to make their due contributions to the development of the Silicon Lake Vocational & Technical Institute.
